The Slim Shady trail starts across the street from the Bell Rock Vista trailhead. It begins as fairly non-descript singletrack right where the sidewalk ends. You’ll know you’re on the trail after a few yards – it’s well-ridden.
This one is definitely rideable by intermediates. Less experienced riders might walk a few short sections, but it’s a nice flowy trail without too much to trip you up along the way. The rail surface is mostly red dirt – more dirt than rock on this one and definitely smoother than many of the other trails in the area.
The trail rolls along to connect with Made in the Shade, Templeton Trail, and Hiline Trail. There’s not much vertical, but lots of short, punchy, climbs along the way. This area is very well marked at all intersections.
You can access Slim Shady across Highway 179 from Bell Rock Vista parking lot. The traffic circle is a short distance to the south to cross to the other side of the highway. Approximately the first half of Slim Shady is a climb to a slick rock area with great views. Traveling north off the slick rock is a descent to Templeton trail. Slim Shady is approximately 1.2 miles long. This trail is for hikers and biking. It’s a fun trail and does require some technical riding skill.
